The Transporter is responsible to safely and efficiently transport patients, equipment, or goods at the direction of the Service Center dispatcher. Exhibits integrity, innovation, and commitment to personal development.
Demonstrates the Allen Hospital core values and commitment to the mission of Allen Hospital. Duties: Transports patients, charts, specimens, and required equipment to various treatment and diagnostic areas throughout the hospital. Provides emergency assistance to patients who become ill during transport until proper staff can be notified and assistance arrives. Initiates or assists in transfer of patients from and to bed, chair, car, and mode of transportation. Requests and obtains instruction/assistance from nursing staff fro patients that require isolation techniques, two-man lifts, toileting assistance, or that has support devices requiring special handling. Communicates status of assigned duties to Customer Service Center. Provides valet and other support services between transport assignments. Maintains BLS certification. Meets or exceeds standards of compliance for all accreditation and regulatory bodies.
Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and communicate the English language fluently. No experience is required for this position, but previous experience in a healthcare setting is desired. Basic Life Support certification required. Requirement must be satisfied with the first 90 days of employment. Valid Iowa driver's license for at least three years with an acceptable or clear rating according to the Motor Vehicle Record chart. Must have a minimum of 2 years driving experience with no record of DUI, DWI, or similar alcohol or drug related offenses over the past 5 years. Able to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles. Meets or exceeds performance expectations in their current position
