We are seeking a reporter to join our team in the Newsroom. This role is responsible for collecting ideas, gathering facts, analyzing and reviewing data and ideas in order to produce content on multiple platforms. This position may be assigned to one or more departments within the newsroom. Shifts may require working late morning to evenings (ex. 10:00am - 8:00pm), as assigned by Editorial staff. Additional responsibilities include developing your own ideas into relevant news content, gathering and verifying information for stories through interviews, observations, and research. As our news content is published on multiple platforms, this role will need to collaborate with the newsroom's visual and design teams to ensure stories are presented to our readers in the best way possible, which may include incorporating multimedia aspects such as video, audio, and photography into stories.
A bachelor's degree in journalism, mass communication or a related field is preferred, along with professional writing experience. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen, interview, and take accurate notes, along with strong organizational and communication skills are a must. In this role, you will be responsible for handling sensitive and emotional situations and must be able to maintain confidentiality, balance demands and set priorities for multiple tasks at the same time, to uphold the integrity of Rivertown Multimedia. You must possess a valid driver's license with a record that insurable by the company.
