Position Information
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible position. The position status is temporary with an anticipated duration of up to three years and the possibility of permanency. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The incumbent will carry out the communications, public affairs, and marketing programs of the Division of Business & Financial Affairs. Under the direct supervision of the Associate Vice President of Mission Valley Development, the incumbent will independently and strategically support communications priorities for the Division of Business and Financial Affairs. They will research, write, edit, and proofread print and electronically based communication materials.

The incumbent also will shoot and edit digital photography; write and produce short marketing and social media videos, write, post and manage social media as necessary; manage and update website content and blogs as needed; and assist in developing marketing campaigns for specific initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $5,750 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,104 - $7,209 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, marketing, journalism, media studies, or related field.
Minimum of two years of related professional, work experience.
Knowledge of the fundamentals of public affairs and communication, and exposure to marketing and marketing research.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a solid foundation in grammar, spelling, and the composition of various communication channels.

Ability to remain focused and work extensively with details, with accuracy and speed.

Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
Experience using MS Office Suite.
At least three years of professional experience in social media, communications and/or digital communications and marketing
At least three years of related professional or technicial experience.
